Imp. Clyde x PWRTRP Scenic
DOB: April 1, 2025
Scenic had her puppies late in the evening on April Fool's day with the last puppy born at 11:54pm to ensure that everyone shared the same birthday.
What can I say about Scenic!? She truly encompasses everything I strive for. She is a social, driven, biddable, joyful, healthy girl. Together we have about a year of sheep training under us and she just keeps getting better. Around the house she is easy to live, gets along with everyone, LOVES Braeden and has truly never met a stranger. She has no quit in her and will give it her all till she gets it right. Scenic LOVES toys, especially Frisbee, and will retrieve all day long. She LOVES swimming and will take any chance she can to get in the water and she LOVES cats…if sheep weren't an option, cats would do just fine! This will be Scenic's first litter which is why I appreciate Clyde being a bit older with healthy, proven and sound offspring already out there doing all the things.
Check out Scenic's page for lots more photos and other details.
Here is what Clyde's owner, Carolyn West, has to say about him:
Clyde is a 7-year-old, rough coated, tri colored male who was imported from Scotland at 10 weeks old. Both of Clyde’s parents were sheepdogs and the cross that produced Clyde was done 4x. Clyde is a trained sheepdog and an Open trial winner and has no known health issues and there are no known health issues from any of his siblings. Clyde’s hips are OFA good and he’s clear on the Optimal Selection DNA panel. Clyde has had a couple of injuries (gastrocnemius tear and inflamed nerves in his back - caused by him jumping at my back door) but after rehab he’s come back 100% sound. As part of figuring out his injuries he’s had his elbows, shoulders, and spine x-rayed with no issues seen by the orthopedic vet. Clyde has been bred 5x - his oldest offspring are 4 years old and the youngest are 14 months old. He has offspring that do herding, agility, rally and obedience. There are no known health issues in any offspring except that the 3 males in his last litter had testicles that were slow to drop and/or didn’t drop. Everyone who has his puppies seems to love them. Clyde has a fantastic temperament and work ethic. He’s smart, tenacious and clever and always give 200% to anything. He lives in the house, travels well, and is pretty much unflappable except for not liking fireworks and the sound of nail guns (we have had a lot of construction in my neighborhood in the last year and a half and he’s decided that he won’t even go near a house where they’re using them). He’s got the best personality and temperament of any dog I’ve owned. He’s got a sense of humor and loves to play and engage with me. On sheep, Clyde is focused and serious and very biddable. He’s a team player and was an early starter and was easy to train. He’s very quick and fast (sometimes too fast) and thinks on his own while still being a good partner. He’s seemed to pass these qualities on to his offspring for the most part. I have an 18-month-old son who is very chill and laid back and so far, looks really nice on sheep. If I had to talk about anything bad about Clyde,, I’d say that when working he can get too fast and pushy if I let him. When he’s 100% with me, he’s amazing and just floats around the sheep but if he starts to push too much and I don’t stop him (with a sharp verbal correction) he gets faster and pushier and we butt heads. I haven’t seen that in his offspring and part of our issue is that if I get excitable, he feeds off that. If you were watching him, you probably wouldn’t notice it. I can’t even complain about all of his coat because he looks really fluffy, but he’s not got much undercoat and he’s really an easy keeper.
